Holiday Adoption
Since the inception of Project Healthy Grandparents (PHG) in 1995, families in the program have been “adopted” for the holiday season by GSU faculty and staff, and businesses and individuals in the community. The donors purchase the gifts, wrap and label them. The presents are then delivered to the families by PHG drivers.

One grandparent wrote: “…thank you for the blessing you have bestowed on my family. I wish you could have seen the smiles on their faces as they walked in the house and saw the gifts under the tree with their names on it.” And from one of the children: “Thank you for all the things you gave me and my brothers for Christmas. I never had so many toys before. Thank you for making all my wishes come true.”

Grandparents LuncheonPHG Luncheon
Annually, Project Healthy Grandparents (PHG) celebrates Grandparents Day in September with a luncheon honoring current and past participants in the program. The luncheon brings the grandparents together with representatives from the community, government organizations, supporters of PHG, and GSU faculty and staff.

Each year an individual that is sensitive to the needs of grandparents raising grandchildren is invited to speak at the annual luncheon. The Community Partnership Award is presented as a way to recognize community partners that provide services for PHG families. Past keynote speakers and award recipients are listed below:
